Accepting General Health

Not being able to play as many competitive tennis tournaments, my results took a dive and so did the equation in my head. It no longer made sense to train as hard as I did and put in the daily hours of fitness for the few tournaments, I was able to compete in. “Accepting General Health” was not imaginable in the sense that I needed it to. Life’s challenges made me stress eat and with the lack of my previous fitness regime, I started to gain some weight and feel unwell.

I would start gaining weight, due to stress and realize that I had to exercise to lose that weight again. This vicious cycle kept repeating for nearly 10 years and it has been an emotional rollercoaster for me. I could not grasp the fact that staying healthy is a choice and your choices have consequences.

“ Staying healthy is a choice. Your body is like a car, its engine is your heart. If you don’t look after it properly, the engine will seize to work and so will your body, heart and mind.”

My New Equation

In the last 2 years I started actively adjusting the equation in my head. Now it reads, the better I look after myself, physically and mentally the more I increase the chances for a longer life. And we come back to the very true saying “You only live once”!

Now I think about the fuel I fill my body with, think about the physical and mental requirements. Exercising feels great again! By just changing my thought process and having suffered through 10 years of physical and mental rollercoaster rides I am now enlightened.

I urge my readers to take this to heart and to think about extending their life’s longevity, before life passes you by.
